Earth Wisdom Weekend
July 20-22, 2007
Join us for this 3-day weekend of fun, cultural sharing and learning about our natural world. Members of various tribes will be there to teach you their cultures’ traditions and beliefs. With separate workshops for children and for adults, everyone is sure to have a great time!
Some program highlights:
*Learn to do Pow-wow dances
*Experience the depth of traditional spiritual teachings (Walking the Red Road)
*Listen to stories from many different tribes Make your own clay pottery and medicine pouches
*Discover the similarities and differences between diverse Indian cultures, such as Lenape, Kiowa, Iroquois, Cherokee and Cheyenne tribes
*Play traditional games, including physically active ones and games of chance
*Eat Native American foods
*Go on a guided hike to bring you into harmonious relationship with the natural world
Presenters will include: Moses Starr (Cheyenne), Mike Watkins (Lenape), Donna Watkins (Kiowa and Lenape), Kay Olan (Mohawk/Iroquois), Jamie Reason (Cherokee), Uaian Bruno (Arawak-Taino), and others.
Cost: $150 per person. Includes all events, lunch and dinner on Saturday, and lunch on Sunday. Half price for children under 18.
Deposit is $40 per person. Balance is due by June 22.
Cost does not include lodging. Limited camping may be available.
Those traveling from outside the area can find nearby lodging in motels and hotels.
Location: Buildings and a beautiful wooded area near Smithtown, NY on the north shore of Long Island, NY. Driving directions will be mailed after you register.
