Dear Friend,
Would you like to have a firsthand experience of Native teachings and wisdom? This letter is to tell you about two exciting hands-on programs that are available to you , your family and friends this summer.
Both give you a chance to learn Native ways in a natural setting. Both seek to increase your knowledge and sense of relation to the natural, social and spiritual worlds we all inhabit (though each takes a somewhat different approach). I hope you will join us for one of them.
The first is entitled "Living the Cheyenne Way," and I will lead it along with my adopted father, Moses Starr. It's based on a program that he and I taught during our European tour through Germany, Switzerland and Austria over the course of four summers. This is the first time we are offering it in the United States. Of all the programs I have led through "Journeys," this is probably the one I have personally enjoyed the most.
The second program is "Tracking and the Arts of Life," led by John Stokes and his staff. We are offering this again this summer after the great experience everyone had when he provided it here last summer. It is open both to beginners and to those who took workshops with him in the past and want to re-hone their skills.
John is non-Indian, but what impresses me is the acceptance he and his programs have had in Native American and other indigenous communities throughout the world. John brings tracking and the related arts to places where they have been lost...which is almost everywhere, due to the impact of modern industrialism. By bringing these arts back into indigenous communities, Native Peoples throughout the world are reclaiming parts of their heritage. John is not the only person to teach these arts, but he is the only person I know who has been invited by Native Peoples to "bring them back home."
Most of John's work is in indigenous communities like Brazil, Hawaii, Iroquois Country, etc. But once in a while, he teaches these arts to public groups. I strongly suggest that you consider joining us for one of these rare opportunities this summer. For more information on John's background, you can visit his website at www.thetrackingproject.org.
Details about each program and the registration form are on the registration page. If you have any questions about either of this summer's programs, please feel free to call me at 631-878-8655. You can register by mailing in the registration form or by phone. I look forward to seeing you at one of this summer's programs!
Sincerely,
Robert Vetter
P.S. Both programs have limited enrollment, so I encourage you to register today to avoid being closed out
